Kotobukiya is a Japanese company producing collectible figurines based on movies, comics and video games. Starting out as a simple toy store in 1947, they became a manufacturer themselves in the 1980s. In 2009, Japanese company executives decided to open an American branch in order to develop business in North America and Europe. In 2010, Kotobukiya brought together creators from Japan and the United States to achieve the best results in the development and production of collectible products. In an effort to continually attract new talent, Kotobukiya holds annual competitions for young artists and sculptors, the winners of which often stay with the company, bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas to the company.
